The Centre Ivanhoe

Constructed in 1937, located in the heart of Ivanhoe, the Heidelberg Town Hall was progressive for it’s time. Built in what was considered unconventional architecture with minimal decoration, The Centre Ivanhoe is now one of the best show cases of “Art Deco” architecture of it’s time. The dominant clock tower boasts the typical neon lighting of the time and it’s four sided green clock face has become a famous Banyule icon.

The original Heidelberg Town Hall, now The Centre Ivanhoe was once the focal point of the shires residents’ social life. Operating as a Function Centre for over twenty years it is still the hub of many of the community’s social events. Now heritage listed, the five function rooms have been, superbly maintained and renovated true to their original style.
